The Surrey Welcome Hub is an integrated community drop-in and shelter facility operated by Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS) and funded by the City of Surrey with the support of BC Housing. The facilities are located at 13545 King George Blvd and provide meal services, 16 co-ed shelter beds, washrooms, laundry, respite space, outreach services, and mats during Extreme Weather Response. This facility fulfills the essential need of providing immediate relief and support for community members experiencing homelessness and complex challenges in the City Centre area.

Key Information

Facility Access:

  • Facility access is located off of Binney Lane through the wooden gate

  • Please ring buzzer for entry

  • All guests and visitors must sign in at Reception

Public Services:

  • Meals served at 8AM & 12PM daily

  • Public washrooms and respite areas available 8AM to 11PM daily

  • Case work services available in the Community Connections Centre 8am-4pm daily

Shelter Admission:

  • Intakes at 10AM & 10PM, curfew from 11PM to 7AM

  • Shelter includes 16 co-ed beds, plus 15 additional beds during Extreme Weather Alerts

The Cove-Healthy Living Service Hub is an outreach and support services facility operated by Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS) with support from the City of Surrey. It is located behind Surrey Urban Mission Society’s “Cove Transitional Shelter”, and is accessible from 106 Ave. The facility includes two universal accessible washroom/shower facilities and a team of caseworkers, offering dignified access to hygiene services and outreach support. The Cove Healthy Living facility offers support to unsheltered people in the City Centre area of Surrey.

SUMS Place temporary shelter contains 40 co-ed beds with admission by referral from the Surrey Welcome Hub. Once a guest has secured a bed they will continue to keep that bed ongoing until they no longer return.

A Shelter Support Worker is on site 7 days a week to help guests transition into housing, gain ID, access appropriate medical services, and much more.

The Cove Transitional Shelter

This 24 hour shelter space is designed for people transitioning into recovery or permanent housing. The Cove hosts 42 beds (14 female, and 28 male bunks), a common kitchen and social area, a large “backyard” space, as well as an OPS (Overdose Prevention Site) facility. Guests have access to laundry and hot showers daily as well as a continental breakfast and hot dinner.

A Shelter Support Worker is on site 7 days a week to help guests transition into housing, gain ID, access appropriate medical services, and much more.

  • 42 bunk beds separated in 2 dorms for men and women (accessibility concerns for top bunks are considered during referral)

The Olive Branch Transitional Shelter

A shelter space for those transitioning into recovery or permanent housing. The Olive Branch hosts 44 beds (9 female, 35 male), a kitchen and social area, a large front yard space, as well as OPS (Overdose Prevention Site) facilities. Guests have access to laundry and hot showers daily as well as a continental breakfast and hot dinner.

A Fraser Health staff team is on site to facilitate the Medical Alcohol Program (MAP) for those struggling with Alcohol Addiction, as well as provide Home Health Services and support from a Recreational Therapist.
